Works in Wood

A lifelong artist, Mike acquired an interest in wood after moving to a forested area overlooking Sequim Bay, WA. He derives inspiration from the grains, textures and colors of different wood and then applies his personal art making skills.

Functional Works

Mike’s forte are hallway, occasional and coffee tables that are suitable for a variety of spaces and uses. He also makes interesting shaped cabinets of all sizes to store curios/objects of desire/memorabilia. Many of his customers remark about the attention his pieces receive from themselves and guests.

Non-Functional Works in Wood

Sculptures that walk the line between art and craft constitute most of Mike’s non-functional work in wood. For example, there are boxes rendered unusable due to surprise elements and paintings found on, in, and in some cases, on the underside of the work. When asked if these hidden elements should be evident during an exhibition, he commented, “Not really. The buyer can take it home and find a surprise.”
